After seven years of absence from Fajr Int'l Film Festival, Rakhshan Banietemad will be at the event's 32nd edition this year with her latest film, Tales.
She describes her latest film this way: "Tales is a journey through seven lives & characters that make ends meet in not extraordinary circumstances, but in perfectly ordinary situations, just like the rest of us in the society. Tales is a review of people's fate & the social circumstances in the past three decades."
"Tales would not be made if it weren't for the collaboration of members of Iranian cinema community & the support of Ms Shirin Dibaj. After nearly three decades of filmmaking, all my characters –whether fiction or non-fiction- are still alive to me & it's as if they live on in me."
"I return to these characters in "Tales" to see how they are functioning in today's society. Despite its entirely independent narrative, for me or those who have seen my previous works, Tales is a review of my people's fate & the social circumstances in the past three decades."
